Tips and Tricks of Filming!
Sermon by Priestess Victoria Harr
May 30th, 2017
Have you ever felt anxious, scared, freaked out, or feel like you’re going to faint while getting in front of a crowd or a camera? Well, I would like to talk to you about it. Hello, my name is Victoria Harr and I am a priestess of the EOC.
The reason why I’m here to talk to you about filming anything is because when I first started filming, I was nervous and all the other emotions that come with it. I hated to film myself and I hated crowds. I would a lot of times avoid any contact with them, until one day my whole life changed. I met these people that taught me and I learned each day. In fact, those people are none other than my brothers and sisters in Christ.
When I was talking to my brother Eric, he took me upstairs onto the roof terrace of our old place. He told me to do a bunch of different exercises and I was reluctant. I didn’t want to do it. I would do anything to get out of it. Eventually, he told me to talk in front of a camera then watch myself. I hated doing that. In fact, I wanted to crawl out of my skin at that moment when I first saw myself on camera.
As I was doing the filming every day I got better and better. Eventually, Kelly and everyone got me in front of the camera and green screen. It took me an hour to film because I was still freaking out and stuttering words. I had gotten used to filming in my “comfort zone” or my room. When you get comfy it causes you to freak out when put in a new situation or at least I did. When I got up there and filmed it got easier and easier to have that confidence that I lacked before. I made a new comfort zone.
Now, talking in front of a camera is one thing. I can do that, but then I was told to do something totally different. Intonation and annunciation. This was a new practice I was told to do by sister Kelly. Kelly asked me to watch some videos and practice them with my husband. I looked forward to it every day at 2 pm. I will tell you it was a lot of fun! I did these exercises for about 2 weeks then it was time to film.
Ok, so how did I do on my first sermon? Well, my heart was in the right place but I wasn’t putting on camera what I had learned, which wasn’t very good. I practiced every day and eventually put out my first sermon with intonation and good energy and all that. The very same day!
Doing those exercises helped me learn and grow, and it became something I enjoyed.
I hope you learn from this sermon and not only learn about my experience with learning to film but also a reminder about how complacency damages our walk of faith. Sure, we get sick, but it is important to bounce back ten times better. Don’t let Satan win! When you are down and you’re letting mood effect your videos, then you’ve let Satan gain power over you. I will repeat this again: DON’T LET SATAN WIN! You are strong in the name of Lord RayEl! You can do this. God bless you all, in Lord RayEl’s name. AMEN!
