Priority Before Prior Ties!
Sermon by Archbishop Eric Logan
January 8th, 2017
I’m Archbishop Eric Logan, EOC. Look sharp, pay attention; a vital priority has been neglected and at this late point there’s no wisdom in approaching it delicately.
I love to goof around but there is no time to play about this one. I’m going to set something in the light of day that every single one of us, high and low, have been challenged with. Far too often the prior ties, which we feel bound to, are placed on a pedestal of priority while God and His priorities are dismissed as extraneous.
Modern life is a meteor shower of tasks and daily goals to be met. That changes nothing. This little circus act we live in has ONE purpose, ONE goal we must achieve even if it means a little bit of precious time must be sacrificed to make it happen. We are trapped on this schoolyard sandbox of a planet for the sole purpose of growing- in love and wisdom- growing to our full potential as eternal beings. That is what justifies the sacrifice Christ made as Yeshua. That is the only reason humanity has been allowed to exist for this long despite the billions of reasons against our existence. Earth is crowded with idiotic, shortsighted, immature, volatile, and self-glorified apes. Unpleasant, but not permanent.
The more you learn about the societies we live in and the engines behind it, the more you understand how trivial the whole thing is aside from the challenge offered. You may stand by your family, you may continue to work for sustenance, but even those things are fleeting, and second to the MOST HIGH.
Luke 9:59-60 makes it clear.
“And he said to another, “Come after me.” But he said to him, “My lord, permit me first to go bury my Father.” And Yeshua said to him, “Let the dead bury their dead and you go announce the Kingdom of God.”
If your prior ties are getting between you and serving your God, then you are at fault. I can hear it already, there are many of you with a litany of ways to say your earthly bonds are vital, and I’m an idiot for telling you to neglect them. Understand if you are wise, that is not what I’m saying at all. They can, of course, be beneficial to the holy cause and they can certainly benefit greatly from it themselves, but you must understand how that is done. And, if you claim to be among those charged to lead the flock, you are held to this standard FAR more severely.
Anyone who has ever been in a position of high leadership knows this lesson already. Anyone who has EFFECTIVELY juggled a full plate of obligations knows this lesson. You must learn the miracle of skillful prioritization! You must see that the Kingdom of Heaven is not a priority, it is THE priority. I promise you, if you say now you are too busy to serve the Lord, then you are doing it wrong. Even if you have time to do everything but attend holy work, then you have mismanaged yourself. Your loved ones can be led by example. They may misunderstand your heart now because it is not constantly giving them attention, but there WILL come a time when even the most foolish will see clearly, and those among your loved ones will value the choices you make for the Lord.
Conversely, you will also be made to see clearly. Faith without works is DEAD. Class is almost over, students. If you fail to do this right now, minutes before the final grade, oh you can’t even imagine the overwhelming shame and horrific awkwardness awaiting you when the judge of your soul starts asking what should be simple questions. Of course, he knows the answer, but it’s important that we face these moments and understand what we lack to gain it.
Picture it now, the King of Kings in all his glory, sitting on the throne of Judgement surrounded by his elect few who really proved themselves by faith with works. Picture the calm look on his face when he asks why an entire week went by and nothing was done for him, and may God have mercy if it’s longer than that. What honest answer can you give if he asks why you could make time for anything but him? Don’t be caught with your pants down in that moment when you are so much better than that.
I know for a fact that prioritization is one of the greatest challenges in life. I can preach about it because I’m in the very same boat and I already do spend most of each day directly assisting the mission of the returned Messiah, Lord RayEl. Telling yourself you can’t is the ONLY reason why you can’t. You. Can. The question you must ask yourself before he does it for you is this: How much do you want to see the New Kingdom? Autopilot won’t fly there and it doesn’t fly now, so you had better find some drive immediately.
I’m praying that this is received and lived. In the name of RayEl, I pray that this doesn’t fall on blind eyes, but opens them to see. Amen.
