Deceptive Teachings
Sermon by Bishop John Griffin II
January 8th, 2017

During my elementary, junior high and high school career, I had been taught many things about scripture. One topic though that my Bible teachers eluded most often was the topic of demons or “devils”, as the King James Bible puts it. In order to the know when we are truly being deceived we must first understand the many forms of deception. One is “Deceptive Teachings”. Trust me, this isn’t as obvious as you may think it is!

Deceptive Teachings - Sermon by Bishop John Griffin II - Jan 8th, 2017

My Bible teachers made demons/devils sound very “black and white” in nature. They would tell me that you can tell that it is a demon or Satan because they “ALWAYS LIE”. Wow! That is simple! I guess there is no possible way ANYONE could be deceived. There is no reason for me to even read the verses of the Bible pertaining to demons/devils and Satan as I officially know EVERYTHING about them! NO ONE could possibly fall for the “Great Deception” that is mentioned in the Bible either! In fact, we must ALL be far more intelligent than spiritual beings who had originated in Heaven and have existed for an undisclosed period of time but prior to human existence, right?

Let me say this. The best liars are the ones who only “sprinkle” lies within the truth. The lie is so subtle that it can’t be noticed unless you literally go over everything with a fine-tooth comb. So what would make anyone believe that Satan would be so obvious? This would mean that Satan, in order to successfully deceive the masses, MUST tell the truth throughout his story and then subtly slip in the deception. Still think they won’t tell the truth? Let’s look at Luke 8:30 shall we!

Luke 8:30

“And Yeshua asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him.”

So…did the demon lie to Christ?

In Luke 8:33 it is confirmed that there were multiple “devils” within this man. “Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked.”

For anyone who studies Demonology like myself and have witnessed possessions, exorcisms, and blessings of property and people, demons will identify who they are while the person is in the possessed state. It won’t be the person themselves talking, but the “devil” within that is inhabiting that person’s body.

So, by my teachers logic, the demons would provide a false name and lie about the amount of demons within the man. This was not the case. I know, I know! You’re saying; “But John, they told the truth because it was Christ! Tee hee!”

Yes! That’s true! BUT the logic still stands. Keep in mind WORDING IS EVERYTHING! A simple word can change EVERYTHING about what is being said ESPECIALLY when you are teaching a child about this type of sensitive topic. You will see what I mean in my next written sermon in regards to “wording”. “Words” are the best tool of deception and far more complicated than one might think.

May God bless you all! May we continue to live by the two simple commandments given to us by Lord Ra-El – “Love God! Love Each Other!” Amen!
