Sepphoris – ancient Galileean town

Sepphoris is not named in the Bible, but it was a major town close to Nazareth.

Procession of Dionysius, SepphorisIn about 17-20CE when Jesus was a young man, Sepphoris was built as a model Graeco-Roman city, and briefly become the capital of Galilee. It was very much a Greek-style city – see the mosaic from Sepphoris at right. It shows a procession honoring the Greek god Dionysius, so it was flagrantly non-Jewish.

China Orders Citizens To Prepare For World War 3

Following The Hague’s ruling that China’s activities in the South China Sea were illegal, Chinese Defense Minister, Chang Wanquan, has warned citizens to prepare for World War 3. The July 12th 2016 ruling by the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague says that China’s nine-dash-line claim in the South China Sea are invalid and unlawful. Since the ruling, China has promised to take all necessary measures in order to defy the ruling and protect its sovereignty.

Many people died some 4,000 years ago when a major earthquake jolted Jishi Gorge, a deep, rocky Yellow River valley in what is now Qinghai province.
But aside from the immediate death toll, centred in the Guanting Basin several kilometres downstream, with some people buried at the entrances to collapsed cave dwellings as they tried to flee, it was a prelude to an even greater catastrophe – China’s great flood.
