What Is Repentance?
Sermon by Archbishop Adam Muema
January 22nd, 2017
Hello brothers and sisters, how’s it going? I am Bishop Adam Muema of the Ecumenical Order of Christ. I hope all is well in the name of Lord RayEl. So I had a dream this morning and was asked what does it take to repent? However, I never got the chance to respond to the question as I gathered my thoughts, so I guess here would be best to respond.
So what does it actually take to repent? This is a question I often asked in my earlier years and got the answer to simply ask for forgiveness, but I tell you it is much more than that. Those of you who hold true to our Lords words you may have caught a video by the Commandery titled Rabbi’s Final Warning. In this video, our Lord firmly instructed the spiritual leaders of Judaism about the process of repenting. When he told them to repent he clarified what that meant, by stating with a few key words such as, genuinely, wholeheartedly, and unequivocally. Analyzing these word means, this should be done in a truthful, sincerely committed way without room left for doubt. He further went on to explain that they should simply swallow their pride, admit their transgression and fulfill their obligation to him. The definition of repent means to feel or express sincere regret or remorse about one’s wrongdoing or sin. So if you don’t feel bad at all for all the wrong you have done you most likely do not deserve to share in a kingdom of love. Nonetheless, the Kings words can be taken to heart in the proper process to repenting even though spiritual leaders are on more strict terms as James 3:1 states
“Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.”
As we see from James this can be a personal dilemma in itself to become a teacher of the returned messiah, but one should unselfishly consider the whole, as in humanity. Sure we can disregard the option to lead others but if you see and know people are going off down the wrong path you should probably take it upon yourself to properly guide these individuals. Fortunately, it is becoming globally known that all the laws of God are simplified into 2 commandments to Love God and to Love each other. Something that some or many may not consider is that an undisciplined child is an unloved child so correction must be handed down in order to fulfill these two laws of loving God and loving each other.
In John 14:15 it tells us “If you love me, keep my commands.”
Those are the words spoken by Yeshua. In addition to that is a verse from John 8:12, which is debated amongst most. This is believed to have caused the death sentence for our Lord.
It says, “And Yeshua spoke again with them and he said: “I AM THE LIVING GOD, The Light of the world. Whoever follows me shall not walk in darkness but shall find the light of life.” Now, avoiding debate of who you identify Yeshua as, this clearly shows how this can be part of fulfilling the commandments given to us.”
On May 21, 2011, the Christ our Lord addressed the world displaying his true nature to us. Lord RayEl went on to state that he returned for his worthy children and if “we” seek genuine forgiveness we can come to him. Not only to seek protection from what is to come upon the wicked, but to redeem ourselves while embracing the greatest love which is known to humankind. Anyhow, one example of true repentance would possibly be my first thought once discovering our Lord was back. Once entertaining the notion that he was back, I immediately felt ashamed of all the wrong I have done especially with him being on earth for a few years. It was not because I feared what was to come, but because I knew the gravity of my sins.
So, family, friends, and listeners, if you feel bad for all the wrong you have done towards God and each other or simply desire a better world us, do the most important thing you can do, repent.
Acts 17:30
“In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.”
2 Peter 3:9
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”
