Being A Brothers Keeper
Sermon by Cardinal Kelly Patrick
August 20th, 2017
It is not just support…it is also steering them back to a path of correctness. Often we may pass down a request or directive to guide another person whether it be a peer or subordinate ….it is all the same. Be that brothers or sisters keeper. Remember you work for God. That is a BIG part of the great work so that we seek to be prepared and perfected to be in his presence and bring forth what is right. Being a follower and clergy for Rayel does not cover up for bad work. Think twice before rejecting a directive and seek for clarity rather than lean into one’s self.
Colossians 3:22-25
22 Bondservants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters,[a] not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord. 23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ. 25 For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.
Take Personal Responsibility and be Generous
Galatians 6:1-10
Brethren, even if a man be overtaken [a]in any trespass, ye who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; looking to thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. 3 For if a man thinketh himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. 4 But let each man prove his own work, and then shall he have his glorying in regard of himself alone, and not of [b]his neighbor. 5 For each man shall bear his own [c]burden.
6 But let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. 7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth unto his own flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth unto the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap eternal life. 9 And let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10 So then, [d]as we have opportunity, let us work that which is good toward all men, and especially toward them that are of the household of the faith.
This Kind of Love Starts with One’s Self
Matthew 22:37-39
37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
The Golden Rule
Luke 6:31
31 And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.
Center yourself around good and not a social mirror!
Luke 12:34
34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
A Slack Hand Becomes Poor and Diligent Hand becomes Rich
Proverbs 10:4
4 A slack hand causes poverty,
but the hand of the diligent makes rich
Keep in Mind You Work for GOD!
Colossians 3:23
23 Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,
2 Thessalonians 3:7-12
7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you, 8 nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. 9 It was not because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves an example to imitate. 10 For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. 11 For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. 12 Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living.[a]
Proverbs 1:8-9
The Enticement of Sinners
8 Hear, my son, your father’s instruction,
and forsake not your mother’s teaching,
9 for they are a graceful garland for your head
and pendants for your neck.
If We Ask of You to be a Brothers or Sisters Keeper and talk to them as a peer please do so. Please ask the same of them and to pay it forward. Remember you are not here to cover for each other or appease each other socially. Yes, lift each other up, but also guide. Now take these directives as they are written and uphold them now and always in your life and work. Always Guide and Protect. May You Be Blessed, Guided and Protected in this Now and always in the Lord’s name
