Don’t Freak Out!!! Choose The Proactive Path
Sermon by Priestess Judith Alexis-Marie
Mar 14th, 2017
Greetings, I am Priestess Judith Alexis-Marie from the Ecumenical Order of Christ, and I would like to enlighten you on the importance of being proactive rather than reactive. This world is spiraling out of control because everyone wants control of the things they cannot influence. Have you ever noticed reactionary attitudes and actions such as individuals showing anger because the weather is bad, or because their favorite sports team lost? They may seem to be easily provoked, no matter the excuse or circumstance. It can even become more of an extreme action where abuse is forced upon another. Have you ever felt yourself spiraling out of control over things, that in hindsight were not as big of a deal or something that wasn’t in your control? These actions are dangerous and I would like to help bring some words of wisdom to help everyone understand and be able to continue to grow to become a better version of themselves before God.
I, by no means, am a Psychologist, but I can tell you a few things that will be logical and make a lot of sense. We all struggle, especially in today’s society where everything is very fast paced, at our fingertips, and everything with a deadline should have been done yesterday. These facets of life add stress on everyone, and most of the time those things are out of our control. The key is, we all have the free will to choose what to do in each situation, what our attitude/mood is set at, and we have that freedom to choose our response!
Let me break this subject down into an easier flow. Environmental circumstances out of a person’s reach can result in that person choosing their mood and attitude, over time it becomes second nature to react that way instantly because it became an instinctual habit. Look around the world, people tend to react to what people say/believe/do INSTANTLY, (even social media such as Facebook have “reaction” icons readily at everyone’s fingertips), even if it does not directly affect that individual, they have developed a habit of stating their opinion whether it is accurate or not in the situation. Emotions are invoked in every situation in life, and we are all tested by God. Society and governing forces help shape the scheme around us to push a certain belief of how one should act, dress, perform, etc…, just to be accepted or to “fit in”. The majority of humanity will fall into these trends because it is the path of least resistance (or work), and they may have a hard time accepting who they truly are as an individual. Everyone struggles with something inside that they do not like about themselves and instead of working on those issues to accept one’s self, material and status-quo objects are put in place as a band-aid to cover up those sores and make it so no one can throw salt in the wound. Have you ever gone somewhere and someone points out something about you or something you’ve done in the past and instantly you begin to melt inside and react negatively? If one cannot accept who they are, or own up to their own actions they will not take others less than accepting opinions as constructive criticism. Ironically, what other people think of you is none of your business, but we ALL struggle and put too much weight in what other people think rather than what GOD thinks…
There are many psychological reasons why people act the way they do, whether it be they were abused, have trust issues, etc…; bottom line is, we all have issues, but we can work through them. One facet is to find out the “what” and “why”, to be able to use it to learn and move forward so you do not become or play the victim. When you react, you place yourself as a victim and give your power up to everything around you. If you are a leader or a parent, you do not continually want to be in reactive mode because you will be setting that example and showing others how to (re)act. This is not constructive because it makes the environment extremely stressful, and we do not need any extra stress, in which I think we can all agree on that. There is a time and place for reactive responses, sometimes in order, for example, to save a life from a dire situation, but not all the time.
Whether it is over religion, race, political standpoints, personal beliefs, we are all biased in thinking that through our own journey we are absolutely correct at that given time, and everything else opposing it is erroneous. How often do people take the time to debate in an orderly fashion to come to their own conclusions? These beliefs and schemas are forms of expectations, which for the most part, in these cases of over reacting are not productive in helping either side grow positively. They are either comfortable not growing, or they start to wither inside and become more than just a negative stick in the mud. Don’t get me wrong, emotions can be wonderful when they are in balance, in check, and not over the edge. Although all we see is reactionary words and actions based on emotions being evoked because nowadays everyone’s opinion takes precedence over truth because political correctness has skewed what it means to step back and analyze, research, center one’s self, etc. Our automatic thinking in given circumstances tends to end up becoming presumed judgment which we base all of our words and actions forward in those situations.
All ASSUMPTIONS! Look at how many stereotypes there are, and most of them are fabricated and not fully true. Reactive behavior is formed as an absolute in one’s mind due to automatic thinking, or rather a habit they have formed. Have you ever looked back on a situation and found that you ‘over-reacted’ and knowing all the given details in retrospect you could have been calm and not overreacted at all? We are all human here and I can guarantee the answer is 100% yes! We are not perfect, but given the free will of opportunity to progress. Reactive attitudes and actions tend to disturb the environment, makes situations worse, and a majority of the time places blame of one’s own actions on something or someone else.
Social media is an explosion of reactionary opinions and elementary name calling…As I’ve mentioned previously, today’s society moves so fast in comparison to years prior, that exponentially we have been over-stimulated to the point we are desensitized to truthful reality. As Allan Hansford quoted:
“Humans fear what they fail to understand. Governments know this so create fears in order to control us. If we understand that ‘terrorism’ is a government creation we will cease to fear people that would otherwise be our friends”
The reality is, we are all fighting, in complete disharmony from one another. This is due to the corruption of the governments and institutions infiltrating by using the general populous as test experiments or props to further alternate agendas. The governments around the world are not capable of uniting for good reasons and honoring the dignity and sanctity of human equality and liberty. That is why a Messiah is needed, in order to become the righteous ruler of Earth and help us all unite in love, peace, and harmony. The only candidate that has met the requirements is Lord Ra-El. He showed his fulfillment of prophecies and goes by the 2 greatest Commandments of Love God, and Love Each Other. We all have to start somewhere, and by being in disharmony with each other, we all need to realize it is not upholding the Commandments, nor is it helping to usher in a righteous ruler.
It is not an easy task to continue to try to control your emotions, but it is a challenge worth taking. If more people tried to focus by using the “if I was in that person’s shoes” method before reacting, perhaps the world would have an easier time uniting and coming to a compromise instead of biting each other’s head off immediately. Another way to think of this could be that the words spoken are received mainly as vibrations, therefore the energy behind those vibrations is a key trigger to the type of given response. It should be no surprise that a negative or low vibration will give in return a negative or low response; respectively positive (or high vibration) for positive. Pro-activity is something we can all achieve because it is the stoic philosophy of concerning yourself only with what you can influence and control, such as your thoughts, emotions, actions On the flip side remembering those things that are not in your control to influence are not worth worrying about because you can’t do anything about it anyway, so why make it harder on yourself and those around you? We have that freedom of choice.
Take a deep breath, count between 2-5 seconds, and then respond. Be the change you want to see in the world, try some of these techniques such as breathing and critical thinking to analyze how you react and respond so you can become better every day. Deep dive into who you are and together we can make this place a little more beautiful. I pray to our Heavenly Father that this message is used as a tool to inspire and will help bring peace and love into this world, in Ra-El’s name, Amen.
